ABOUT ME
Whether playing a famous sophisticated Italian opera singer, a superstitious Serbian cook who kills cats to avoid bad luck (quite the acting challenge for me as a devout cat lover), a Scottish queen or a Southern housewife, I embrace the challenge of bringing truth, authenticity and heart to each role I take on. Although I am “classically” trained and love a juicy Shakespeare, I am drawn to New Works as I enjoy working with the playwright, director and team to bring more women's voices to the stage.
Growing up with an Opera singing mother and flamenco guitar playing father, I was bound to find the stage . I was born in Glasgow, Scotland, but emigrated to the U.S. with my mother and sister when I was a wee lass. I am an avid traveler and believer in knowing-the-world-first-hand-teaches-humanity. My love for travel and my ear as a musician (violist) have given me a facility for dialects which I have used in many of my roles. I’ve also had a lot of fun adding my viola into the mix onstage!
A graduate of the Juilliard School and with a Master of Teaching I have enjoyed sharing my love for acting and teaching for over 3 decades.
When I’m not working on the stage or in the classroom, I’m working in the garden, in the kitchen, (recently having made haggis—the edible kind), art journaling, chatting with my daughter on Facetime, or I’m sitting down to cuddle with my two marmalade cats.
